Women in Tech World hosting the first Community Conversation

This fall, Women in Tech World is setting off on a journey to empower women in tech across Canada. Join the first Community Conversation in Vancouver, BC, on September 5, 2017, generously supported by Safe Software.

Women in Tech World (WinTech), a grassroots organization dedicated to creating opportunities, connections and actionable steps to elevate women in tech, is proud to present Driving WinTech. Driving WinTech is a community-based research tour to better understand and support women in the technology industry in Canada. Our team has set up over 30 Community Conversations across the country, with a goal of connecting with over 10,000 people from diverse backgrounds. The road trip will take two months, starting in Vancouver, BC before heading up to the Yukon and across to the Maritimes.

Conversation Kick Off

The first Community Conversation, presented by Women in Tech World and Safe Software, kicks off in Vancouver on September 5, 2017, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at CodeCore. The event will feature research activities, networking opportunities and panel discussions by Trailblazing Women in Tech, including Iris Gutowsky (Safe Software), Tracy Huitika (Unbounce), Julia Taylor-Hell (Microsoft), Louisa Thue (Hootsuite) and Stephanie Redivo (SAP). These research activities and discussions will help us to understand the experiences of women in tech and identify best practices for diversity and inclusion in the Vancouver tech ecosystem.

This event is generously sponsored by Safe Software, which is one of British Columbia’s largest software companies with more than 20,000 customers in over 100 countries. Its FME software is used by utilities, governments, engineering firms and other organizations around the world to integrate enterprise systems and automate data processing. “As a company who strongly values inclusivity, we’re proud to sponsor Driving WinTech,” says Don Murray, Co-founder and President of Safe Software. “When we heard about the Kickstarter campaign, we immediately wanted to help make it happen,” adds Dale Lutz, Co-founder and Vice President of Development.nAll members of the tech community are invited as our aim is to promote diversity and inclusiveness in the tech industry. To attend and join the conversation, please register here. Space is limited, so you’ll want to reserve your spot as soon as possible.
