Trend Alert: Bold Minimalism
This year, fashion is all about making a statement. While minimalism was a recurring trend in the previous years, in 2018 styling bold pieces with minimal items is a way to add more personality to your looks. Being bold is about taking risks. Adding a pop of color, mixing and matching contrasting patterns, or sporting asymmetrical silhouettes are ways to add your signature to your ensembles.
Thriving on multiculturalism and diversity, Vancouver is home to unparalleled inspiration when it comes to style. The breathtaking nature, the various cultures and backgrounds and even the neighbourhoods can be your muse for your next looks!
To show you how to turn a minimal look to a more adventurous one, I have paired a simple black shirt with a plaid skirt in bold red from my favorite vintage store in Vancouver, Front & Co and a matching red beanie from Top Shop. As a trendy pattern and a relatively neutral one when it comes to its pairing capacities, I matched the outfit with leopard print gloves from Club Monaco. To warm up against the cold winter weather of Vancouver, I layered the outfit with a tailor-made coat from one of my beloved Iranian designers, Dook Mezon. What I love the most about the coat is the simple design that is exaggerated with the fur sleeves and the button holes in different textures which transform the coat from simple to unique which embraces the concept my bold minimalism that will dominate our wardrobes this year!
